At Be.smile, the whitening agent used is hydrogen peroxide, which captures electrons from the pigmented molecules responsible for tooth discoloration.

Hydrogen peroxide is capable of “attacking” the dark molecules that have accumulated on tooth enamel and dentin, breaking them down with the oxygen it contains, a process accelerated by exposure to blue light.

In practice :

BrossBrush your teeth thoroughly for 3 minutes to remove any food residues that may still be present in your mouth.

A retractor is placed in the mouth. The gums and teeth are dried so that a gel can be applied to protect the gums throughout the treatment. We then apply 2 mm of peroxide to the teeth.

Teeth are placed under the lamp for 30 minutes, and the peroxide gently penetrates the enamel.

Hydrogen peroxide captures electrons from the pigment molecules responsible for tooth discoloration. The light and heat of the blue light accelerate whitening.

This treatment can be repeated three times in a row for 30 minutes each, for a maximum of 90 minutes.

Tooth whitening is formally contraindicated for pregnant or breast-feeding women, as peroxide can cross the placental barrier. It is also contraindicated for children under 12 or whose permanent teeth have not yet erupted.
