Dear Patients, we’re taking the time to write you a little blog about Dermaplaning. We’re receiving more and more women suffering from facial hair or pimples as a result of using a hair removal procedure that’s very much in vogue at the moment: Dermaplaning!
What is Dermaplaning?
Dermaplaning is a skin treatment that involves exfoliating and skimming dead cells and facial hair with a blade.
The aim of this treatment is to make the skin’s surface smoother and brighter.

« Help, I’ve got a beard: my down is gradually turning into thick, hard hair!!! »
What we don’t tell you is that this process can cause PARADOXAL REPOUSSES, i.e. transforming the down into thick, coarse hair.

Stimulating hair growth in hormone-dependent areas, such as the cheeks, sideburns, chin and neck on the face, can lead to paradoxical regrowth.

This technique can also cause BUTTONS! And yes, the peach-skin effect is short-lived. Some women develop pimples and ingrown hairs on their face.
T’S NORMAL TO HAVE FACIAL FUZZ !
Don’t try to remove it in any way.
Some women will experience no side effects at all, but for others it will be dramatic.
If you suffer from facial hair, consult a professional to establish a diagnosis and a protocol adapted to your skin, age and phototype. Some areas can’t be waxed, so it’s very important to know that there are hormone-dependent areas which, if stimulated, can cause paradoxical regrowth.
Our advice to avoid damage :
If you notice one or more isolated hairs on the face, trim them with scissors or small clippers.
Avoid tweezers, wax or razors, which could stimulate hair growth in these areas. Even permanent laser hair removal should be carried out with great care on the face. At Be.esthetic, we start with a thorough diagnosis to determine the causes of your hairiness. We work with an endocrinologist, Dr. Bessomo in Brussels, to find the best treatment for each patient.
The team at Be.esthetic, 70 rue du Bailli Brussels, will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
See you soon!
